Fuel cells come in many varieties however they all work in the same general manner. They are made up of three segments which are sandwiched together: the anode, the electrolyte, and the cathode. Two chemical reactions occur at the interfaces of the three different segments. The net result of the two reactions is that fuel is consumed, water or carbon dioxide is created, and an electrical current is created, which can be used to power electrical devices, normally referred to as the load. At the anode a catalyst oxidizes the fuel, usually hydrogen, turning the fuel into a positively charged ion and a negatively charged electron. The electrolyte is a substance specifically designed so ions can pass through it, but the electrons cannot. The freed electrons travel through a wire creating the electrical current. The ions travel through the electrolyte to the cathode. Once reaching the cathode, the ions are reunited with the electrons and the two react with a third chemical, usually oxygen, to create water or carbon dioxide.

SAN DIEGO (April 14, 2010) Bart Chadwick, Head of the Environmental Sciences Branch Space at the Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR), checks conditions in laboratory microbial fuel cells, or MFCs. The fuel cells have the potential to revolutionize naval energy use by converting decomposed marine organisms into electrical energy, offering a clean, efficient and reliable alternative to batteries and other environmentally harmful fuels. Wind farm Video

boston7513 Kevin posted a video:

Wind farm Video

I had to compress the sound track to fit in flickr's one minute video time allotment.

This is Kevin Moore's, concept, for a floating, Hydrogen windfarm.

This concept would be deployed far out to sea, not effecting the skyline or the fishing industry.

Conventional windfarms are expensive to build, and are permanent, INSHORE platforms, that many people think are ugly and protest strongly, to stop these projects.

The major advantage of this concept over conventional windfarms being built today, is that liquid hydrogen can be stored and shipped all over the world.

This windfarm would turn ordinary sea water, into liquid hydrogen, in a process called "Electrolysis". Liquid hydrogen can be used to heat homes, generate electricity, and power fuel cells for hybrid vehicles.

The Sun heats the Earth, and drives the winds.
The Sun gives the Earth more energy in one hour, than the Earths population uses in one year. This will not run out or change the worlds climate, like burning fossil fuels.

The Earth is quickly approaching a population of seven billion people!

Kevin shares a common philosophy with this generation. The philosophy that we owe it to our "Descendants", to fix our energy problems today, and give them a legacy of Sustainability.

We can be Green, we can be Clean, and we can all, live the kind of lifestyle we are accustom to living, without braking the bank

This is not science fiction, This technology is here today!

The Hydrogen atoms in our water are the oldest atoms in the Universe and is the fuel our Sun and all the stars run on.

Hydrogen economy
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Hydrogen_economy

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), found that a kilogram of hydrogen (roughly equivalent to a gallon of gasoline) could be produced by wind powered electrolysis for between $5.55 in the near term and $2.27 in the long term. Using conventional wind turbines.
